French-American exchange at CORE PDF Print E-mail
From early September 2002 till the end of December 2002, a group of families from North Carolina, USA, stayed at CORE. The eight parents with their 30 children have used their stay in France extensively to get to know France and Normandy and to improve their French. The children (who have attended the primary school and "college" in Coutainville as well as the high school in Coutances) have had the opportunity to "dive into" life in France.

And there were lots of contacts: with families of classmates, both at school and afterwards as well as at church. Among the highlights of the exchange were a French-American church service in Coutainville (end of September), the reception of the guests in the town hall of Agon-Coutainville and several theme days at school where the local pupils had the opportunity to learn more about North Carolina. A visit in the catholic church of Agon, playing music in the local old people's home and many other encounters were also part of the stay. Finally, at the end of November, eve rybody was invited to celebrate Thanksgiving at CORE.

During this exceptional exchange, many new contacts have been established which will hopefully reach a lot further than this stay in Coutainville and lead to many other visits and exchanges. Finally, we are glad that the contact between North Carolina and CORE has been established through this website...
